Sri Lanka, Nov. 2 -- At least 11 imported motor vehicles sustained damage after a lightning strike hit a vehicle storage yard at the Hambantota Port premises.

The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in the Hambantota area, triggering a fire in the yard where imported vehicles were parked.

The port's firefighting unit responded promptly and managed to extinguish the blaze.

Hambantota Port Police launched an investigation into the incident.
