Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) J.M.M. Jayasundara has been awarded the President's Gallantry Medal by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The award was presented during the 159th anniversary celebration of Sri Lanka Police Day, held at the Police Field Force Headquarters in Bambalapitiya.

Jayasundara was honoured for his exceptional role in the operation to arrest a group of organised criminals who were subject to a Red Notice and were subsequently apprehended in Indonesia.

The award is a notable event in the history of the Sri Lankan Police, as the President's Gallantry Medal is rarely bestowed.
