Sri Lanka, Oct. 11 -- An appeal was filed before the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia against the death sentence imposed on Sivarasa Anojan by the Saudi Court of Appeal.

The Saudi legal team filed this appeal before the Saudi Supreme Court after discussing and finalising the relevant legal matters with the Sri Lankan legal team and Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad.

A Sri Lankan legal delegation consisting of President's Counsel Azad Navavi, President's Counsel Faiszer Musthapha, President's Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma, and Attorney-at-Law Hafeel Farisz recently departed for Saudi Arabia to prepare the appeal and provide legal assistance regarding this incident.
