Sri Lanka, Oct. 10 -- The Court of Appeal has ordered that a batch of writ petitions seeking an order to release vehicles currently held by Sri Lanka Customs to be called on October 14th to explore the possibility of a settlement.

These vehicles were detained after being imported from a country other than the one of manufacture, despite the Letters of Credit (LCs) being opened locally.

Around 15 petitions filed by vehicle importers against the detention of their vehicles by Sri Lanka Customs were called today (10) before the Court of Appeal bench, consisting of President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya, and Justice Priyantha Fernando.
