Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- The Saudi Court of Appeal set aside its earlier judgement imposing the death sentence on Sri Lankan national Sivarasa Anojan.

Sivarasa was sentenced to death by a Saudi Arabian Appellate Court over a Facebook post deemed insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

The court overturned an earlier ruling by a lower court that had sentenced him to five years in prison, following an appeal filed by the public prosecutor.

The court classified the alleged offence as a "Hadd", a category of offence under Islamic law considered to be against God.
