Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Allied medical professionals at all hospitals under the Western Provincial Council have begun an indefinite strike today at 8:00 a.m. The strike was announced by Chanaka Dharmawickrama, the Chief Secretary of the Joint Council of Allied Medical Professionals.
In a seperate development a large volume of letters and parcels from various countries has piled up at the Katunayake Airport Air Cargo Village due to an ongoing postal workers' strike. The strike, launched by postal trade unions based on 19 demands, began last Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and continues to cause severe inconvenience for the public.
