Sri Lanka, Feb. 5 -- The narrative of a "76-year curse" is a complete fabrication intended to mislead the public, according to Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, Executive Member of the "Dinana Dakuna" collective.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (04), he stated that citizens are now beginning to realise the falsehood of this claim.

Warnasinghe emphasized that the 78th National Independence Day should be celebrated with pride, honouring the visionary leaders of 1948 who ensured a unified Sri Lanka.

He argued that the country achieved significant milestones over the past decades and criticized those attempting to undermine the value of independence or discourage national celebrations.
