Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- A Supreme Court bench has ordered the Attorney General to investigate the legal action that can be taken against the foreign company that owns the X-Press Pearl vessel.
This is over their refusal to pay the compensation ordered in the fundamental rights cases filed over the fire on the ship.
The Attorney General is to submit a report to the court on January 26 next year.
The case was brought before the Supreme Court today based on a motion filed by Sea Consortium Lanka, the local agent for the X-Press Pearl, regarding the compensation payments.
