8 drivers arrested for working under influence of drugs
Sri Lanka, May 20 -- Eight drivers and a conductor, working in passenger transport buses, were arrested for operating under the influence of toxic drugs, by the Kalutara South Police station.
The suspects were arrested during a special inspection conducted yesterday, within the Kalutara South Police Division, jointly by officers of the National Transport Medical Institute and Kalutara South Police station, according to the Police Headquarters.
The arrested suspects are residents of Payagala, Yatiyana, Dodangoda, Tebuwana, Meegahatenna, and Kalutara South, aged between 35 and 57, the Police said.
The Kalutara South Police are conducting further investigations.
