Sri Lanka, May 18 -- A total of 5289 Tri-Service personnel received promotions to their next ranks to mark the 17th National War Heroes Commemoration Day falling today (18).

The Ministry of Defence stated that this step was taken to appreciate the invaluable service rendered by the tri-forces members to usher in a peaceful era in the motherland.
