Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- The Sri Lanka Police Department is set to appoint 40 new Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) following the results of a competitive examination.

The promotions were granted to Chief Inspectors and Inspectors who passed the exam held in November 2023.

A total of 46 vacancies for the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police were advertised.

The 40 officers who achieved the highest marks in the examination have been selected for promotion.

However, a tie in the final marks has created an interesting situation for the remaining six vacancies.
