3 Chinese individuals caught smuggling foreign ciggies
Sri Lanka, May 25 -- Three Chinese nationals were arrested by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (25) for allegedly attempting to smuggle a stock of illegal foreign cigarettes worth Rs. 6.06 million into the country.
The suspects, aged 31, 36, and 40, are reported to be Chinese business employees.
They had arrived at the airport at around 1.05 a.m. on flight OD297 from Kuala Lumpur.
According to Sri Lanka Customs, suspects have attempted to leave the airport through the Green Channel, designated for passengers with nothing to declare.
