Sri Lanka, May 2 -- 23 suspects in Buddhist robes arrested over smuggling Kush and Hashish valued at over Rs. 110 million remain in custody until May 12.

Acting Additional Magistrate Subhani Abeysekera issued the remand order in Negombo today.

Police Narcotics Bureau officers initially apprehended 22 of the monks at Katunayake Airport on the 26th of last month with approximately 112 kilograms of narcotics concealed in luggage.

Investigations revealed another suspect in a Buddhist robe, identified as Amitananda, who coordinated the group to bring the illegal shipment into the country.
