Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- A total of 208 police officers have been arrested over alleged involvement in various offences, including drug-related activities, Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler has disclosed.

Speaking to a local media, ASP Wootler also revealed that nearly 1,500 officers had been suspended from duty over different offences.

Admitting that corrupt and unsuitable personnel remained within the Police Department, he said steps were being taken to identify and remove such officers, while ensuring that legal action was pursued against those responsible.

He also disclosed that 11,131 children, including 233 girls, had been arrested between October 30, 2025, and the present date.
