Sri Lanka, April 28 -- 2 farmers lost their lives after being struck by lightning, according to the Ipalogama Police. The incident occurred this afternoon during heavy rains affecting the Kalawewa and Vijithapura areas.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victims were engaged in land preparation work in their fields when the lightning strike took place. The deceased are identified as 50-year-old Jemaldeen Badurdeen and 49-year-old Jackson Senaratne, both residents of the Vijithapura area.

The Ipalogama Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
