Sri Lanka, July 27 -- The government plans to establish 2,000 primary healthcare centres across the island within the next three years, according to Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the Minister of Health and Mass Media.
The Minister made this statement yesterday (26) at a workshop in Colombo held to raise awareness about the proposed primary healthcare centre projects, which aim to cover the entire island.
He added that the first 100 of these primary healthcare centres would be established within this year itself.
The Minister stated that the government's objective is to build one primary healthcare centre for approximately every 10,000 people, aiming for a total of 2,000 new centres nationwide.
