Sri Lanka, May 15 -- Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has claimed that a financial irregularity exceeding Rs. 85 million has occurred in connection with payments made by SriLankan Airlines.

He stated that a monthly payment intended for a Dubai-based sales agent from the airline's Chennai office (in February 2026) was mistakenly transferred to a wrong bank account.

According to the MP, the intended account was held at Emirates NBD PJSC Bank. However, the funds were allegedly credited in error to an Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank account instead.

He further noted that an amount of 974,050 dirhams was involved in the transaction, which is equivalent to over Rs. 85 million.
