Sri Lanka, June 17 -- Manori Sallay, wife of the former head of the State Intelligence Service, retired Major General Suresh Sallay, sent a letter to all bishops of the Catholic Bishops' Conference, including Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

She states that she writes with utmost respect and humility as the wife of the retired Major General, pleading for intervention amid the severe physical, mental, and emotional distress her husband faces whilst their family watches helplessly, as his reputation, honour, and dignity face public destruction before any court determines his guilt or innocence.
