Zero duty on agri exports worth $1bn
New Delhi, Feb. 9 -- The United States will apply zero reciprocal duty on Indian agricultural exports worth over $1 billion under the India-US framework agreement for an interim trade deal, government officials aware of the details said, adding that the move will avoid uncertainty, providing stability and predictability to Indian farmers and exporters.
The key items to benefit from the move include, spices, tea, coffee, and tea and coffee extracts and essence, they said asking not to be named. In the India-US joint statement issued on Saturday, Washington has offered to reduce reciprocal tariff to 18% from 25%. It will be applicable soon after the US issues an Executive Order to this effect.
