India, April 4 -- In a major ruling aimed at protecting child rights, the court of Additional Sessions Judge at Vadgaon Maval, Pune, sentenced a 20-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the attempted rape of a 13-year-old girl. The judgment was delivered by Judge DK Anbhule on April 1.

The case dates back to the evening of November 16, 2023. According to the prosecution, the victim, a Class 7 student, had gone to a nearby water tank to fetch water after dinner.
