India, Sept. 26 -- Hundreds of women students on Friday marched on the sidewalks of the Siri Fort Road near Delhi University's South Campus on Friday evening, demanding safer public spaces and stringent action against sexual harassment, against the backdrop of the gangrape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park earlier this week.

The gathering started the march at around 4pm from the gate of the Kamla Nehru College amid heavy police deployment, and after an hour, protesters were moved to DDA's Arun Jaitley Park to avoid traffic disruption. There, they continued the protest for another hour.
