Bhubaneswar, March 1 -- An elderly woman was allegedly hacked with a sickle and set on fire by her neighbour on suspicion of practising witchcraft in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Friday night, police said. According to police, the deceased, Jaba Tudu, a resident of Kumbhirda village under the jurisdiction of Bahalda police station was allegedly killed in her sleep by the accused, Yugu Marndi, who surrendered after committing the crime. Additional superintendent of police Jadunath Jena said Marndi had long suspected Tudu of being a witch.
