Why was Lil Durk's racketeering trial pushed to 2027? Court cites case complexity in latest ruling
India, Oct. 1 -- Rapper Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, will not face trial on federal racketeering charges until August 30, 2027. According to LA Magazine, a California federal judge granted a defense request to postpone proceedings. The court ruled that the case's unusual complexity, the large volume of evidence and the addition of new charges required significantly more preparation time for all parties.
Originally, the trial was scheduled on October 5. However, speculation around the trial date postponement emerged after the court set a separate November 4 bond hearing.
Wednesday's order confirmed that the racketeering case will instead begin on August 30, 2027, at 8:30 am.
