Why diamond prices are crashing and what it means for India
India, Sept. 24 -- Natural diamond prices have fallen to levels not seen in more than two decades, with wholesale prices now around 30-40% below their 2021 peaks, according to a recent market report carried by TradingView.
The drop comes as the diamond industry faces lesser demand in key markets, elevated inventories and growing competition from lab-grown diamonds. The fall has not been uniform, with smaller and lower-quality natural diamonds under greater pressure than larger, higher-quality stones.
