India, Oct. 30 -- The British High Commission in India has confirmed that fugitive gangster Nilesh Ghaywal, wanted in several serious cases including murder and extortion, is currently in London on a visitor visa.

The Commission has also notified UK authorities that Ghaywal's Indian passport has been revoked, Pune Police officials said, according to a PTI report.

A notorious Pune-based gangster with a history of violent crimes, Ghaywal is believed to have fled India using a fraudulently obtained passport.

The Pune Police, who had long suspected his presence in the United Kingdom, formally reached out to the British High Commission seeking his detention and deportation.
