West Bengal Police reach East Champaran in search of 'shutter-katwa' gang members, one held
BETTIAH, June 5 -- A police team from West Bengal which reached East Champaran in search of nine thieves, arrested a member of the infamous shutter-katwa gang involved in the robbery of jewellery from a shop in Bardhaman, West Bengal and seized looted jewellery, including diamond rings from his possession at a village in East Champaran on Thursday evening.
The latest in a series of thefts reported across the country, the robbery of jewellery worth Rs.2 crore by nine thieves - all allegedly from East Champaran - has turned the spotlight on the notorious 'shutter-katwa' gang of the district.
