KANPUR, June 12 -- A 19-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her father inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district on Friday, weeks after she married a Dalit man reportedly against her family's wishes. The victim, Shivani Chauhan, was attacked inside Badausa police station, where she and her husband had been brought after being traced and detained earlier in the day.

According to police, Shivani's father, Satya Kumar Chauhan, repeatedly stabbed her while her mother, Ranno, held her from behind. Shivani sustained multiple injuries, including two stab wounds to the abdomen and injuries to her left elbow and palm.
