While several of his films became iconic, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj believes one of Karan's shorter works stands out as his strongest directorial effort. Vishal has singled out Karan's segment from the 2018 anthology Lust Stories as the filmmaker's career-best work, while also praising the performances of Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal.
