New Delhi, July 27 -- Foreign secretary Vikram Misri met top Chinese officials in Beijing on Monday as part of efforts by the two countries to normalise their relations, including maintaining peace and tranquillity on the border and addressing priority issues.

Misri's visit to China follows a meeting between external affairs minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on July 22 on the margins of Asean-related meetings in the Philippines. Jaishankar emphasised peace and tranquillity in the border areas as a prerequisite for normal ties, and raised New Delhi's concerns about fair access to Chinese markets, balanced trade and predictability of supply chains.
