Thiruvananthapuram, May 15 -- Former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader of the CPI(M) in the state Assembly on Thursday. The decision marks a reversal of roles in the state Assembly -- while Vijayan moves to the leader of opposition's post, VD Satheesan, the LoP in the previous Assembly and elected as chief minister-designate by Congress, will assume his role as the leader of the treasury bench. Vijayan, 80 and two-time chief minister between 2016 and 2026, was chosen as the legislative party leader at a meeting of the CPI(M) state committee in Thiruvananthapuram.
