India, May 6 -- Fissures have become visible in the Congress-DMK alliance over support for actor-turned-politician Vijay, with the grand old party formally announcing its backing for TVK to form the new government in Tamil Nadu.

Vijay's stunning performance in the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026 has seemingly thrown a wrench into the alliance between the two parties, with DMK going so far as to call Congress "a backstabber".
