India, Aug. 25 -- A wildfire is currently burning near Velma in Stephens County, Oklahoma. According to Watch Duty, the fire broke out on Monday afternoon and is moving rapidly east-northeast, prompting evacuation orders.

The National Weather Service in Norman issued a fire warning at the request of Stephens County Emergency Management, warning that the smoke and flames could pose a threat to life and property.

"Smoke and fire will present a threat to life and property Evacuations are ongoing in Velma. Be prepared to evacuate quickly if requested and follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials. Do not drive into smoke."
