India, Sept. 15 -- The Uttar Pradesh irrigation department has told the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that the demarcation of the Hindon river floodplain is still incomplete and sought three more months to finish the process.

It said the demarcation of some patches were delayed due to "improper data" supplied by the Survey of India. It has also sought permission to complete the remaining work in coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), instead of the Survey of India.

A bench, comprisingNGT chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member Afroz Ahmad, recorded that the demarcation exercise was yet to be completed and the state had sought a three-month extension.
