US woman raped by staffer at K'taka homestay; accused, owner arrested
Bengaluru, April 22 -- An American national was allegedly raped by an employee at a homestay in Karnataka's Kodagu, triggering a multi-agency investigation, police said on Tuesday, adding that they have arrested the accused and the homestay owner.
Police have identified the accused as Vrajesh Kumar, a resident of Jharkhand.
"The victim has alleged that she was given a drink mixed with intoxicants, following which she was assaulted. Based on her complaint and supporting evidence, we have registered a case and taken the accused into custody," an officer involved in the probe said, adding that the victim has also accused the owner of disconnecting the WiFi access to her room for three days .
