US Open leaves Stan Wawrinka out in the cold, denying former champion a wild card for his final Grand Slam
India, Aug. 23 -- Born into the greatest era in men's tennis history, Stan Wawrinka spent almost two decades competing alongside the Big Three - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic - as they dominated the sport.
Yet Wawrinka managed to carve out a legacy of his own. In an era when the Big Three rarely left major titles on the table, the Swiss won three Grand Slam titles, the last of them coming at the 2016 US Open.
A decade later, with Wawrinka in the final year of his professional career, the US Open has surprisingly denied him a wild card for what could be his final appearance at a Grand Slam.
