UP wedding called off after conversion case
Meerut, Feb. 13 -- An interfaith wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district has been called off after police registered a case against the groom after the bride's uncle filed a complaint of wrongful religious conversion bid against him, police said.
Akanksha Gautam (29) and Shahvez Rana (25) were set to get married on February 13.
The complaint, submitted by Prem Chand, alleged that Shahvez had hidden his "real name" on the wedding card, and that it was part of "Love Jihad." Aided by members of Hindu right-wing outfits, a complaint was filed.
