United Airlines flight from Dulles to Rome canceled after 12-hour delay: What happened?
India, Oct. 7 -- Passengers on United Airlines Flight 884 from Washington Dulles International Airport to Rome spent nearly 12 hours dealing with delays before the flight was canceled without leaving the US.
The flight was due to depart at 5:35pm on October 2, but a cockpit problem, thunderstorms, refueling, crew changes and further maintenance checks kept the Boeing 777-200ER on the ground. United canceled the flight at about 4 am. Saturday because of crew time limits.
Passengers were later moved to another flight, which left Saturday evening, more than 25 hours after the original scheduled departure. According to Fox News, United confirmed the cancellation was linked to crew time limits.
