Two PAN card case: Azam Khan's sentence enhanced to 10 years
Meerut, May 23 -- The MP-MLA Sessions Court has enhanced the punishment awarded to senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan while granting partial relief to his son Abdullah Azam, in a ruling in the two PAN card case.
Accepting the government's appeal seeking stricter punishment, the court increased Azam Khan's sentence from seven years to 10 years of imprisonment. The court also raised the fine imposed on him from Rs.50,000 to Rs.5 lakh.
However, Abdullah Azam received partial relief from the court. While his seven-year prison sentence was upheld, the fine imposed on him was increased from Rs.50,000 to Rs.4 lakh, adding an extra financial penalty of Rs.3.5 lakh.
