Trump says USnavy removing Hormuz mines
Washington, April 12 -- US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Washington had begun clearing sea mines from the Strait of Hormuz, even as conflicting reports emerged that two US Navy warships were forced to turn back from the strategic waterway after threats from Iran. US Central Command said on Saturday that two US Navy warships transited the strait at the start of an operation to clear the strategic waterway of mines laid by Iran. But a regional intelligence official and Iran denied the report.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed media reports suggesting Iran held the upper hand in the conflict, asserting that Iran's naval, air defence and missile capabilities had been largely destroyed.
