Agartala, Aug. 12 -- Tripura government on Wednesday felicitated Asmita Dey, India's first-ever Commonwealth Games judo gold medallist, presenting her with land allotment documents along with a cheque for Rs.10 lakh.

This is her first visit to the state since the Commonwealth Games.

"The Tripura government is providing so many platforms (in the field of sports) that we are confident that more talent will emerge from Tripura in the future. The future of Tripura is very bright," chief minister Dr Manik Saha said. He also cited Arjuna awardees Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar and Montu Debnath and other sportspersons who brought glory to the state through their achievements.
