Kolkata, Feb. 28 -- The Trinamool Congress on Friday announced four candidates - former state police chief Rajeev Kumar, senior advocate Menaka Guruswamy, minister Babul Supriyo and actor Koel Mallick - for the March 16 Rajya Sabha elections. With an effective strength of 218 legislators, the Trinamool sits comfortably to send four MPs to the Rajya Sabha. Kumar recently retired as Bengal's DGP. If elected, Guruswamy will become the first person to openly identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ communities to make it to Parliament. P12
