Dhanbad, Sept. 14 -- Three people died after a portion of earth collapsed during suspected illegal coal mining at Keshalpur Kumharpatti under Ramkanali OP of Katras in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Sunday, police said, adding that few more could still be trapped and rescue efforts were underway. According to police, the incident occurred around 7 am when several local residents reportedly entered an underground mine to collect or extract coal. Suddenly, a large portion of earth caved in, trapping several people beneath the debris. Following the incident, the local residents rescued three people who were taken to a local hospital, where doctors reportedly declared them dead.
