India, May 18 -- The avian domestic drama at Lodhi Garden continued on Sunday, as a female Oriental pied hornbill continued trying to feed a nesting female Indian grey hornbill (nesting in a tree cavity). The pied hornbill brought the nesting female, and possible chicks inside, yet another grisly offering on Sunday morning - this time an adult jungle babbler. Birders observed the dead bird being aggressively knocked against the branches. The pied hornbill then flew to the nest with this treat and was received with an open beak and commotion. Then began its mission to shove the babbler into a narrow slit meant for the thin beak of the grey hornbill. Many attempts later and facing rejection from the grey bird, the pied hornbill flew away.
