Telangana tribal man killed in landmine blast on Karreguttalu hillocks: Police
Hyderabad, Sept. 3 -- A 60-year-old tribal man was killed after a landmine exploded on Karreguttalu hillocks in Telangana's Mulugu district on Wednesday evening, police said.
The hillocks, located along the Chhattisgarh border, were once strongholds of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist).
The deceased, Madakam Nageswara Rao of Nugur village in Venkatapuram mandal, was collecting bamboo in the forest with five other tribal villagers when he allegedly stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) at Bedemgutta, about 10 km from their village, police said. The others escaped unhurt.
