New Delhi, June 28 -- The Congress on Saturday appointed Lok Sabha MP Manickam Tagore as the Tamil Nadu unit chief, in a tactical shift after C Josesph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) assumed power in the state. "Hon'ble Congress president has appointed B Manickam Tagore as the president of Tamil Nadu Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect," a press release issued by party's general secretary KC Venugopal said on Saturday. Tagore replaces outgoing PCC president K Selvaperunthagai. Tagore was one of the critics of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the run up to the assembly elections held in April this year.
