New Delhi, Sept. 13 -- The Centre has asked states to assess current use cases and identify new avenues to utilise funds in the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) cess corpus, which currently holds around Rs.77,000 crore, for workers' long-term welfare, including pension and social security.
Addressing a national conference of BOCW stakeholders in Mumbai on Friday, union labour minister Mansukh Mandaviya flagged the possibility of providing pension support to construction workers and urged states to ensure wider social security coverage, a government release said.
