India, Aug. 13 -- White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced her decision to step down from her role on Tuesday. Calling the move "bittersweet," the press secretary stated that she will be stepping down in order to focus on her family.
Leavitt, who is the youngest press secretary, returned to the White House two months after welcoming her second child.
In a post on social media. Leavitt added that the goal is now to spend more time with her family, including her children. However, insiders have revealed that this decision was not as abrupt as it seems.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the Daily Mail reported that Leavitt had been considering leaving the post during her maternity leave.
