New Delhi, May 30 -- State-run oil companies are facing a daily loss of Rs.550 crore on petroleum sales, including petrol and diesel, the government on Friday said even as international oil prices fell sharply to nearly $92 a barrel, a 23% decline from the post-war peak of $120 on March 9. Speaking at the inter-ministerial briefing, petroleum ministry's joint secretary Sujata Sharma said, "I don't have the breakup of Rs.550 crore company wise." State-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) controls over 90% of India's fuel retail market.
