Smartphone shipments fall 8% in Q2, premium segment grows 72%
New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Even as smartphones become more expensive, shipments in India have not slowed sharply, with financing helping sustain demand even as consumers in lower price segments delay upgrades.
The latest data from CyberMedia Research (CMR) shows that while India's smartphone shipments declined year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, they rose sequentially. India shipped 34 million smartphones in Q2, up from 31 million in the previous quarter, but down from 37 million in Q2 2025.
The figures come as smartphone makers, including Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus, have raised prices of existing models, while recent launches such as Google's new Pixel phones have also reflected higher costs.
