Slugfest over Pb Dalit man's suicide intensifies; Mann, Rahul trade barbs
Chandigarh/Sangrur, Sept. 10 -- Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday engaged in a war of words over the suicide of a 47-year-old Dalit man in Sangrur district, with senior Congress leader attacking the Aam Aadmi Party over drugs menace in the border state and the CM asking Gandhi not to indulge "in politics over dead bodies".
On Sunday, the victim confronted state finance minister Harpal Cheema over the drug crisis in the region. A day later, he died by suicide after allegedly being harassed by local leaders, who asked him to issue a public apology over the police visiting the village on his request.
